Tambo Design can create a unique hand painted canvas of your favourite image or photograph. The image can be of any subject matter - a portrait of a loved one, a favourite view or landscape, a building or landmark, an animal or pet or even your private yacht!!

The competitive pricing structure used for our ‘Fine Art’ range is not normally associated with bespoke oil paintings which usually cost many thousands of pounds. We can only maintain this level of competitiveness by simplifying the entire creative process. For this reason ‘sittings’ with the artist are not necessary. Instead we work from your photographs.

The ‘Fine Art’ range also utilises an innovative hybrid production process involving traditional painting skills and modern digital media technology.

The process is very simple to explain. Your photographic image is firstly digitised and printed onto the blank canvas prior to being ‘over-painted’ and signed by an experienced Tambo studio artist. The initial process enables our artists to quickly and efficiently obtain exact sizes and proportions that otherwise would take valuable time and therefore would add to the overall purchase price. During the painting of your original and unique piece of artwork we can incorporate colour and composition changes if required.

The process of reproducing an image on a blank canvas prior to ‘over-painting’ is not pioneering and has been used by artists for many hundreds of years. Famous artists such as Canaletto and Vermeer used a similar process using ‘Camera Obscura’ to aid with perspective and composition. The ‘Camera Obscura’ was a device that enabled artists to project images onto walls and canvases - not unlike a present day overhead projector. The artists would then quite simply trace the outline and detail of the projected image before rendering with their chosen media.

The ‘Fine Art’ range is available in any size and is painted in a ‘traditional’ style.

The finished piece can be produced on stretched canvas, requiring no picture frame or flat canvas which can be framed and mounted to your specification by our in-house ‘Guild Commended’ picture framing team or by a picture framer of your own choice.

Ordering ‘Fine Art’ is simple and straightforward. All we require from you is a good quality photograph or jpeg along with a brief description of the style and finished size of artwork required.

A Tambo studio artist will then contact you to discuss your order and provide you with advice on composition, framing and pricing.
